Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Journey of Inner Peace – Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is regarded as one of the holiest and most spiritually significant pilgrimages in the world. Every year, thousands of devotees and seekers from across the globe undertake this sacred journey in search of inner peace, divine blessings, and spiritual awakening.

Mount Kailash – The Abode of Lord Shiva

Standing majestically at an altitude of approximately 22,000 feet, Mount Kailash is not just a mountain, but a revered symbol of divinity and cosmic power. Located in the Tibetan Plateau—often referred to as the Roof of the World—it is believed, according to Hindu traditions, to be the celestial abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Nandi Parvat – The Sacred Guardian

Adjacent to Mount Kailash lies Nandi Parvat, symbolizing Lord Shiva’s sacred vehicle, Nandi. As per mythology, Nandi was born human but later transformed into a divine half-man, half-bull figure through Lord Shiva’s blessings. Today, Nandi Parvat stands as a representation of loyalty, devotion, and eternal service to Lord Shiva.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra – When & How

The Yatra is organized annually between May and September in the Tibetan region of China. The spiritual highlight of this pilgrimage is the Kora—a sacred circumambulation around Mount Kailash, covering a distance of 56 kilometers. Completing the Kora is believed to cleanse the soul of sins and bring liberation.

Lake Mansarovar – The Divine Waters

At the base of Mount Kailash lies the sacred Lake Mansarovar, a freshwater lake stretching over 88 kilometers. Renowned for its crystal-clear waters that change hues—from deep emerald green at its center to shimmering blue at its edges—Lake Mansarovar is considered a jewel of divinity. A full moon night at the lake is said to be an ethereal experience, as the waters radiate a luminous glow.

Mount Kailash Parikrama – A Test of Faith

The Kailash Parikrama (or trek around Mount Kailash) is one of the most challenging spiritual treks in the world. The journey typically takes three days, beginning from Darchen Base Camp at an altitude of about 15,000 feet. Pilgrims believe that completing the Parikrama paves the path toward spiritual liberation (moksha).
